Job & Partnership Opportunities

Civic Outlaws and Modern Law Ecosystem are building a national ecosystem of independent, small-firm, and co-counsel partners. We provide intake, paralegal and research services, document support, and strategy.

You bring what can’t be automated: judgment, trial skills, and local licensure. Most roles are structured as co-counsel or project-based work, with flexibility for 1099 contractor status or true employment, depending on the case load, jurisdiction, and duration of engagement.

Some positions are primarily for Civic Outlaws (civil liberties, selective enforcement, government abuse cases). Others are primarily for Modern Law Ecosystem (legal-services platform, PI, business, and regulatory work). Many will touch both.

Professional Liability: All attorneys, investigators, experts, and other licensed professionals must either:

  • Maintain their own professional liability insurance, or

  • Be willing to be added to our coverage and bear the associated cost, as agreed in writing.
